July 2016 Guest Speaker: Gaylyn DiVine

Gaylyn DeVine National Secretary Treasurer

Gaylyn DeVine, CEO

TLS Graphics, Inc

American Business Women’s Association
District II Vice President 2012-2013
National Secretary/Treasurer 2013-2014
Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund Trustee 2012-2014
ABW Foundation Secretary/Treasurer 2015-2016

Gaylyn joined the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) as a Charter member of the South East Express Network in November, 2004. Since joining, she has served on the local board in a variety of positions including President in 2011-2012. She served as the Houston Area Council Vice Chair for 2 years, and served on both Regional and National Conference Teams. Gaylyn was honored as Woman of the Year in 2008 which was a defining moment of the faith my ABWA sisters had in my leadership capabilities.

My biggest challenge was taking over the family printing business in July 1998. Print Company owners are predominantly male, so getting assistance from other male owners proved to be difficult. After joining several other organizations which did not give me the support and mentorship I needed, I was invited to an ABWA meeting. Finding ABWA gave me the opportunity to meet other business women, practice leadership skills and gain the professional development needed to be a successful business owner.

As a 10 year breast cancer survivor, I am so thankful for the support ABWA gave me during that time of my life as I continue to pay it forward to others. I would say the secret to my success is remembering “The time to be happy is now. The place to be happy is here. The way to be happy is to make others so.” Unknown author

My advice to all women, including those not working outside the household is to find a local ABWA business league and join!   The professional development, friendships and skills you will learn will serve you well. I have met speakers and business women I would have never met any other way. For that, I am eternally grateful for my ABWA experience.

Gaylyn is married to George, has a daughter, Brittney and a cocker spaniel named Spencer. She loves to read, spend time with her family and cook. Her passion is helping others overcome the voices in their head that stop them from being their very best every day and fulfilling their dreams, goals and purpose.
